Jordan PTSA Board Positions
Officer Descriptions and Duties
Each term is for one year; however, a person may serve two consecutive terms in the same position. A procedural notebook is provided for every board position. Executive Board meetings are once a month with other duties performed as needed. All officers shall complete the Texas PTA Foundations Leadership Orientation.
President - Presides over all PTA meetings. Coordinates work of officers and committee. Is a member of all committees except the Nominating and Audit Committees. Authorized to sign on bank accounts. Attends monthly local, council, VIPS, and presidents’ meetings. Should attend Summer Leadership seminar, Area 10 conferences, and Texas PTA Convention.
1st Vice President, Membership – Responsible for PTA membership drive. Aide to the President. Presides over meetings in the president’s absence. Performs other duties as assigned by the president or the association. May be called upon to preside as the President, if position is vacated for any reason, until the local unit can elect a replacement.
2nd Vice President, Volunteers – Responsible for VIPS (volunteer coordination) & PTSA sponsored Programs. Performs other duties as assigned by the president or the association. Presides over meetings in the president’s absence (in designated order).
3rd Vice President Programs: The Coordinator of Programs is responsible for PTSA sponsored programs and contacting companies that offer educational programs for our students and parents. Presides over meetings in the president’s absence (in designated order).
4th Vice President Communications – Responsible for maintaining and updating our PTSA website content and position emails and overseeing social media chair and PTSA newsletter. Presides over meetings in the president’s absence (in designated order).
5th Vice President, Fundraising – Responsible for PTSA fundraising. Presides over meetings in the president’s absence (in designated order). Performs other duties assigned by the president or the association.
Treasurer – Responsible for all funds of the association and maintaining and keeping accurate books and records. Chairs the Budget Committee. Authorized to sign on bank accounts. Presents financial reports, both written and verbal, at all meetings. Performs other duties assigned by the president or the association.
Secretary – Responsible for recording minutes of the association and keeping accurate records of all official work of the association. Chairs Bylaws committee. Performs other duties assigned be the president or the association.
Council PTA Delegates(2):The Delegates are to attend all Katy Council of PTA’s general meetings, participate in Council discussions and deliberations; represent JHS PTSA as a voting member of the Council of PTA’s body. The delegates will submit a report to the JHS Board and Membership, communicating Council announcements and upcoming programs.
Fundraising Asst: The Coordinator Assistant will assist the VP Fundraising. Fundraising is responsible for developing and executing successful fundraising activities that support and finance the proposed PTSA projects and programs for the school year.
Fun Food Frenzy: The Coordinator will organize and serve in these events, where the students have the opportunity to purchase foods that would not commonly be available to them in the lunch lines.
Hospitality: The Coordinator will organize the donation of food items, set up and cleanup with the various staff appreciation events.
Membership Asst: The assistant will assist the VP Membership. Membership is responsible for recruiting and processing membership to the JHS PTSA within our community and submitting the dues and reports to Texas PTA.
Publicity/Social Media: The Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and updating the PTSA social media accounts such as Face Book and for submitting school and PTSA events to our local print media.
Reflections/Arts in Education: The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Reflections/Arts in Education program within the school and in conjunction with Texas PTA’s annual theme.
Spirit Wear: The Coordinator is responsible for planning and ordering spirit wear to sell at PTSA and school events.
Historian: Will chronicle and record the year of events in photographs and description for posterity
Spirit Night Coordinator: Contacts local businesses to set up and promote spirit night outing for our PTSA.
Parliamentarian: Is the keeper of the rules and regulations for the PTSA. During meetings helps to keep board in compliance with PTSA regulations.
